What to Expect

1. Reaching Out
When you're ready to explore care, you'll connect with our Operations Assistant, Sarah. She’ll help you determine if Dr. Lisa Salstein (she/her), Esther Crane (they/them), or Jesahel Madfes (she/her) is the right fit, confirm your insurance, and walk you through available appointment times.

2. Insurance & Payment

  • Copays are due at the time of each appointment.

  • If you have out-of-network coverage with another insurer, we can provide Superbills to help you request reimbursement. Many of our clients are successful with this.

Out-of-pocket rates with Dr. Salstein (if not using Aetna):

  • $550 for a ~55-minute New Patient Consultation

  • $275 for ~25-minute follow-up appointments

Out-of-pocket rates with Esther Crane & Jesahel Madfes (if not using insurance):

  • $400 for a ~55-minute New Patient Consultation

  • $240 for ~25-minute follow-up appointments

3. Preparing for Your Appointment
Once you’re scheduled, you’ll receive paperwork via our secure patient portal, Charm. Please complete the following before your first session:

  • New Patient Intake Form (contact info, current medications/supplements, allergies)

  • New Patient Policies (cancellation and care agreements)

  • Credit Card Authorization and Consent Forms

The second platform we use is Headway, solely used to bill your insurance. Please complete the following paperwork on the Headway platform: 

Keep an eye out for new account information from the two patient portals mentioned above. If you are new to the platforms, you will be prompted to create an account. 

All paperwork must be completed prior to the New Patient Consultation.


4. Your First Session
The New Patient Consultation is approximately 55 minutes long and offers space to share your story, ask questions, and start clarifying your goals for care. Whether you’re looking for therapy, medication support, or both, we’ll collaborate to create a plan that works for you.

5. Ongoing Care
We offer follow-up sessions for:

  • Individual psychotherapy

  • Medication management when appropriate

  • Support for gender-affirming care

  • Ongoing LGBTQ+ mental health care, exploring identity, relationships, and healing from trauma

  • Neurodiversity-affirming care for ADHD, executive functioning, and emotional regulation

All appointments are held via HIPAA-compliant telehealth, so you can access care from anywhere in New York.
