What to Expect
1. Reaching Out
When you're ready to explore care, you'll connect with our Operations Manager, Amanda. She’ll help you determine if Dr. Lisa Salstein (she/her) or Esther Crane (they/them) is the right fit, confirm your insurance, and walk you through available appointment times.
2. Insurance & Payment
We are in-network with Aetna, including Columbia’s Aetna plan.
Copays are due at the time of each appointment.
If you have out-of-network coverage with another insurer, we can provide Superbills to help you request reimbursement. Many of our clients are successful with this.
Out-of-pocket rates with Dr. salstein (if not using Aetna):
$550 for a ~55-minute New Patient Consultation
$275 for ~25-minute follow-up appointments
Out-of-pocket rates with Esther Crane (if not using Aetna):
$375 for a ~55-minute New Patient Consultation
$225 for ~25-minute follow-up appointments
3. Preparing for Your Appointment
Once you’re scheduled, you’ll receive paperwork via our secure patient portal, Charm. Please complete the following before your first session:
New Patient Intake Form (contact info, current medications/supplements, allergies)
New Patient Policies (cancellation and care agreements)
Credit Card Authorization and Consent Forms
4. Your First Session
The New Patient Consultation is approximately 55 minutes long and offers space to share your story, ask questions, and start clarifying your goals for care. Whether you’re looking for therapy, medication support, or both, we’ll collaborate to create a plan that works for you.
5. Ongoing Care
We offer follow-up sessions for:
Individual psychotherapy
Medication management when appropriate
Support for gender-affirming care
Ongoing LGBTQ+ mental health care, exploring identity, relationships, and healing from trauma
Neurodiversity-affirming care for ADHD, executive functioning, and emotional regulation
All appointments are held via HIPAA-compliant telehealth, so you can access care from anywhere in New York.
We look forward to supporting you on your journey.
You are not alone, and healing is possible.
